Victor Carers Retreat 2007 at Nunyara - BelairOvernight Retreats have proven to be a great stress reliever for Carers, and for some the only break in a year.Retreats are part funded by the Carers SA Retreats Program from HACC Program Funding.

HistoryCarer Support on the Southern Fleurieu started in 2001, with the appointment of a part-time coordinator, after several years of community consultation. Initially, there were no carers, and no volunteers. General misunderstanding of the meaning of the term 'Carer' was widespread: some thought 'a carer' was a paid worker, who provided home help with showering or personal care. In 2003, with acquired ongoing funding, our Steering Group of 7 Carers secured our current premises, prominently situated in Victoria Street, Victor Harbor. The 'Carer Support Centre has become the base for our current program, supporting carers from Goolwa to Cape Jervis. With the Centre came increased community support in the form of our volunteers, the Friends of Carer Support. |

Who pays for it?South Coast Carer Support is a program of the Southern Fleurieu Health Service, and is funded by HACC. Membership and respite services are provided free of charge. There may be an additional charge for some activities.
